STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University team roper Wyatt Bray captured top honors Tuesday night in the third go-round of the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.
Bray and roping partner Cutter Thomison of Western Texas College, reigning National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southwest Region champions, flashed a 5.6-second time in their second run of the day. In Tuesday’s slack, Bray and Thomison roped their steer in 6.6 seconds.
Barrel racer Acey Pinkston also made two runs Tuesday, placing in the top 10 of the third go. Pinkston, who finished the regular season in third place in the regional standings, ran their cloverleaf in 15.01 seconds after an early-day 19.50.
In other action Tuesday, Jordan Driver posted a 14.56 in barrel racing, Tori Brower took 20th in goat tying with her 6.7, and Wyatt Crandall added a 13.4 in tie-down roping.
Wednesday performances by Tarleton riders and ropers feature team roper Korbin Rice and breakaway roper Tayler Felton.
Individual and team champions will be named following Saturday’s championship finals.
