STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University’s Upsilon-Omega chapter of Kappa Sigma received the FACE Award in recognition of an outstanding first year. The Founder’s Award of Chapter Excellence is the benchmark honor in Kappa Sigma, recognizing outstanding achievements in all areas of chapter operations.
“I am very proud — we did a great job,” said incoming senior and chapter president Justin Cummins. The fraternity, which started on campus last fall, recruited 57 pledges, raised nearly $1,700 for its Military Heroes campaign and $5,000 for its Greater Cause campaign, and contributed 5,800 service hours to the community.
The newest Chapter of the Order maintained membership in several campus organizations outside the order; took part in specialized Kappa Sigma workshops, including Code of Conduct and Champion’s Quest; and established chapter operations in what the fraternity considers required departments of a healthy chapter.
The Tarleton chapter started after interested students reached out to Kappa Sigma. They began the recruiting process in the student center.
Kappa Sigma is a men’s college fraternity focused on promoting friendship, loyalty and brotherly camaraderie. The organization aims to extend meaningful college experiences to all members while offering progressive membership development and pledge education. Its stated objective is to excel in all phases of fraternity and student activities, and it strives to fulfill this through scholarship, leadership, community service, social graces and cultural awareness.
