Child drowns at Splashville Saturday evening

Stephenville PD: All indicators are that this is a tragic accident

Tragedy struck at Spashville Saturday evening as Stephenville PD officials announced the death of a 4-year-old child.

At approximately 7:49 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, first responders were called to Splashville in Stephenville to a report of a possible drowning. Units from the Stephenville Fire Department and EMS as well as Stephenville PD arrived on scene to find “citizens and lifeguards performing CPR on a 4-year-old child who was found unresponsive in the pool,” according to a release from Stephenville Police. 

“Paramedics transported the child to the Texas Health Stephenville emergency room. At approximately 9 p.m. the medical staff advised officers the child had passed away. The child was later pronounced by Erath County Judge Brandon Huckabee. 

Investigators with the Stephenville Police Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden and Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Ranger Division are investigating the circumstances of the drowning. At this time, all indicators are that this is a tragic accident.”
