Melinda Autry Slawson, 76, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023 in Katy, Texas. Services will be held at Lacy Funeral Home in Stephenville, Texas at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, followed by a graveside service at West End Cemetery in Stephenville. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, at the funeral home prior to the service. Melinda was born March 11, 1947 in Stephenville, Texas to Joseph Wayne Autry and Jessie Glyn “J.G.” Pruett. While initially part of the Stephenville High School Class of 1965, she graduated a year early in 1964. Melinda married Jerry Don Slawson on August 1, 1983 in Stephenville. During her 25-year banking career, Melinda began working at Farmers First National Bank in Stephenville and then moved to Town and Country Bank in Stephenville where she retired as a loan officer and Vice President. Melinda’s contribution to the community is evidenced by her induction as the first female member of the Stephenville Lions Club. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Stephenville. Melinda enjoyed reading, sketching, watching sports, and was an avid Stephenville Yellowjacket football fan. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Melinda is survived by her five children, Mark Fenner and wife Robin of Marble Falls, Texas; Rachel Edwards and husband Ronnie of Fulshear, Texas; Joe Don Slawson of Stephenville; Jason Slawson of Stephenville; Justin Slawson and wife Patty of Stephenville; Sister, Julie Burket and husband Morgan of College Station, Texas; seven grandchildren, Brandon Fenner of Stephenville; Allison Shepherd and husband Scott of Austin, Texas; Emily Edwards of Fulshear, Texas; Sophie Belle Slawson of Stephenville; Etta Rae Slawson of Stephenville; Charlee Slawson of Stephenville; Preslee Slawson of Stephenville; and one niece, Melissa Turner and husband Nathan of Fort Worth, Texas. Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and J.G. Autry, and her husband, Jerry Don Slawson. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. Memorials may be made to the local charity of choice.

Visitation will be held from 9 until 10 a.m. on Monday, July 31, at Lacy Funeral Home in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 31, in the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel.
