In Loving Memory of Our Family Matriarch, Norma “Meme” Pendleton

Today, we gather to celebrate the life of a cherished family matriarch, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Norma, who departed from this world on September 24, 2023. She was a woman of unique character and the glue that held her family together.

Born on 09/19/1933, Norma was adopted by William (Bill) & Essie Mae Heizer.  She graduated from Dublin High School in 1955. She married Kenneth Lee Pendleton on June 2, 1956, and they had 67 beautiful years together as husband and wife. The had 2 children, Rhonda Pendleton Williams and Gary Pendleton. After school, she began bookkeeping for Texas Electric, Lonestar Gas, Cunningham Office Supply, and Hardy Seay Surveying until she and Kenneth moved back to Dublin in 1988. After that, she began caring for her family and working at Dublin’s Chamber of Commerce.

Norma was a woman of great discipline and strength.  Her organizational skills were legendary, and her attention to detail was second to none.  She instilled in her family the values of giving to others, the value of family and the importance of sticking by one another through it all. She loved Kenneth with all her heart and was very grateful for the love they shared and the dedication he had in taking care of her.

Norma had a spirited side that added a unique spark to her family. Her sense of humor often brought laughter to the most serious of occasions. She knew how to keep you on your toes, reminding you that life should be enjoyed. She would let you know exactly what she thought, and her wit and humor could light up a room.  Her ornery remarks were balanced with an underlying sweetness that only those who knew her well truly understood. She had a unique way of showing love, often through teasing and playful banter.

As we say farewell to Norma, we are reminded of the lessons she taught us about the importance of family, structure, responsibility, and finding humor in life’s challenges. She will continue to be the backbone of her family, who are deeply grateful for the privilege of having had her in their lives.  May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy of love and strength lives through them.

Norma is survived by her husband, Kenneth Lee Pendleton (Dublin), her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Stanley Williams (Dublin), her sister, Luine Hancock (Montgomery), 9 Grandkids, 19 Great-Grandkids, and many more loved ones. She was preceded in death by her son Gary Lynn Pendleton, her parents William (Bill) and Essie Mae Heizer, and her brother-in-law, Dennis Hancock.

A celebration of Norma’s life will be held on September 27, 2023, at Dublin Live Oak Cemetery at 10:00 am. We invite you to join us in sharing stories and memories that capture the essence of our beloved wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
