Services for Norma Sue Adams, age 88, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Lacy Funeral Home with Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Lacy Funeral Home.
Norma Sue Moring Adams was born to Vance and Odessa Moring on May 18, 1935. When her mother passed after birth she went to live with her aunt Johnnie and Ross Brown where she was raised in the Oakdale and Huckabay communities. She played high school basketball for the Huckabay Lady Indians. It was during this time she met, fell in love with and married Lloyd Earl Adams. Their union produces three children, Rhonda Wise of Lipan; Deborah Stevens of Stephenville/Hot Springs, AR; and Lloyd Earl Adams, Jr. of Greenvale, NY.
When her three children were born Sue and Shorty (as her husband was affectionately known) owned a gas service station in Stephenville. They later moved to the country where Sue also helped her husband run their dairy. Despite the long hours she still found time to become an excellent cook, an accomplished seamstress, a gifted painter, a talented photographer and an avid RV traveler. If you were lucky enough to catch her on the right day you were treated to one of her renown homemade cinnamon rolls. Sue and Shorty loved basketball and supported the teams at Huckabay, Lipan and Stephenville. During one period of their life they ran a successful steakhouse called The Red Bandana. Throughout their adventures they were blessed with a wide array of friends and those friends became extended family.
Sue is survived by her three children, Rhonda Wise; Deborah Stevens; and Lloyd, Jr. and wife, Laura. There are eight grandchildren, Nikki and Steve Callaway, Brandi and Wesley Nelson, Amber and Les Branson, Amy Ananian, Lauren and Brandon Saxon, Kristy and Rhett Everett, Courtney Adams, and Lane Adams. He is survived by 15 great-grandchildren, Aaron, Sarah and Kynzi Callaway, Zach and wife, Kayce, and Brady Nelson, Ben Montoya, Tate, Taylor and Telese Branson, Tristian, Harper, Jessie and Tanner Saxon, and Graham and Hudson Everett. He had one great great-grandson, Callan Nelson, and one heart felt son, Brad Benne of Round Rock.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Earl Adams; parents, Vance and Odessa Moring and Ross and Johnnie Brown; siblings, Sherwin Moring, Sandra Bailey and Gene Brown; and grandson, Trey Adams.
