The Erath County Sheriff’s Office has reported a 13-year-old subject was injured in a shooting between two adults early Sunday morning.
According to Erath County Sheriff Matt Coates, “In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 19, the Erath County Dispatch received a call of shots fired at a location off of State Highway 67 in Erath County.
Deputies learned a disturbance occurred between two adults which resulted in a 13-year-old juvenile being shot in the leg. The child victim was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. The identity of the child victim will not be released due to their age.
During the course of the investigation, the suspected shooter was identified as Mauricio Ruiz Calzontzi. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Calzontzi for the charge of Injury to a Child. Calzontzi was arrested and booked into the Erath County Jail and is being held there on a $250,000 bond.
