Services for Buddy Leon Wells, age 88, retired minister, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Stephenville with Dr. Ken May officiating. Burial will follow at Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2024, at Lacy Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.
Buddy was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on October 4, 1935, to parents C.E. Wells and Lorena Davis. He married Mary Elizabeth Williamson on September 29, 1956, in Refugio, Texas.
Buddy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stephenville, where he also served as a minister. He was a talented singer and enjoyed sharing his voice as a member of the sanctuary choir and the PrimeTime Choir. He also loved to share the gospel to nursing home residents both through ministry and music. Buddy was a member of the Rotary Club and the Stephenville Gardening Club, and was over the Meals on Wheels program locally. Buddy also volunteered his time offering ministry assistance at the hospital. He was also known as an all-around sports fan.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Wells of Stephenville, Texas; daughters, Lisa Lundy and husband, Jerry of Conway, South Carolina; and Gina Martin and husband, Chet of Stephenville, Texas; grandchildren, Laurie Bass and husband, Cam; Lindy Williams and husband, Tim; T.J. Batson and wife, Nicki; Jenny Langlois and husband, Ryan; Elijah Martin and wife, Jacquee; Ben Martin and wife, Dani; ten great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Conn of Corpus Christi, Texas; and his special companion, Dude.
Preceded in death by his father, C.E. Wells; mother, Lorena Davis Wells; brothers, Edward D. Wells; and David H. Wells; and sister, Mary Lou Lovewell.
