Michael Howell Dunton, born December 18, 1941, in Saint Augustine, Florida to parents Benjamin and Christine (Diggers) Dunton, passed away in Hico, Texas April 25, 2024, at age 82. Mike retired from Flor Daniel as a nuclear electrician and Hvac technician. After retirement he operated Mike’s Mechanical in the Hico area. Mike had a love for playing music, building and flying model airplanes and antique cars. Mike was a renowned musician who enjoyed playing and singing with his wife Dixie and was a member of the Gatesville Country Music Hall of Fame. Mike married Dixie, the love of his life, on January 1st, 1994.
Mike was preceded by his parents.
Surviving Mike are wife Dixie Dunton, children Deby Marhanka and husband Ron, Diana Turner and husband “T”, Laura Jarrett and husband Rick; stepdaughters, Monti Parchman and husband Jace, Michell Roberson, and Nique Johnson and husband Danny. Mike is also survived by sisters Patty Martin, Benetta Russell and husband Raymond and Charlene Dunton; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services 11am, Monday April 29, 2024, at Hico Cemetery, Hico, Texas.
