Service for Loyd Cudd, 98, of Glen Rose will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 4, 2024 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Heath Cemetery in Whitney. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, November 4, 2024, prior to service.
Loyd peacefully passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at his home in Glen Rose. He was born January 22, 1926, in Holliday, Texas to John Melvin and Clovie Coreen (White) Cudd. Loyd graduated from Blum High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving for three years. Upon his return from service, he married the love of his life, Earleen Waits on June 2, 1946. They enjoyed a blessed marriage for over 72 years. In the early years of their marriage, Loyd was baptized into Christ. He began his Christian service to our Lord by preaching in Cresson, Texas. He also preached at several congregations including Poolville, Joshua, Westland and Glen Rose. Loyd was invited to preach many gospel meetings in surrounding areas, even all the way to Utah and made many missionary trips to Mexico. Throughout the years he served as a dedicated, faithful, elder for the Aledo and Hico congregations. Loyd was an honorable man leaving family and friends a rich legacy for generations to come.
Loyd is survived by his daughters, Donna Key & husband David, Diane Wiley, and Dana Broumley & husband Keith; grandchildren, Amy Lynn & husband Billy, Angela Brown & husband Barry, Jason Wiley & wife Sherry, Wes Wiley & wife Kristin, Justin Broumley & wife Lori, Dusty Broumley & wife Ashley; 22 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great- grandchildren.
Loyd is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 72 years, Amy Earleen Waits Cudd; siblings, Kenneth Cudd & wife Earline, John Cudd & wife Joyce, Cathryn Cooper & husband J.B.; brother-in-law, James Waits, sister-in-law Cecelia Waits; son-in-law Tommy Wiley; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
