STEPHENVILLE – The Western Athletic Conference announced their weekly awards on Wednesday, selecting Emma Halcomb as the WAC Libero of the Week for the second time this season.
Halcomb received the award for Week 10 (Oct. 24-30) due to her stellar play throughout the Texans’ two matches against Utah Tech and Abilene Christian.
The Texans went 1-1 on the week, taking down Abilene Christian at Moody Coliseum on Monday.
Halcomb registered a career-high 34 digs against the Wildcats, notching a WAC individual match-high for the 2024 season. She became the first player this season to record 30 or more digs in a single match and is tied for the most digs in a single match since Sept. 24, 2022.
Halcomb’s 34 digs shattered her previous career best of 26 against ULM on Sept. 21 during the Texans’ tournament-clinching match at the Tarleton State Invitational. She also tied the Tarleton D1 record for most digs in a single match, previously set by Ana Costas during the 2021 season.
The Texan libero now holds three of the top five WAC totals for most individual digs in a match this season. Halcomb also tied her season high with six assists on Monday to accompany her historic dig total.
In total, she tallied 48 combined digs in two matches throughout the week. The senior did not record a reception error in either match.
The Purple and White are set to take on California Baptist on Halloween at Wisdom Gym. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with first serve set for 6 p.m. CT.
