March 2, 1933 ~ January 15, 2025 (age 91)

Jerry was born in Mounds Oklahoma to Gerald and Madeline Horne Sturman.   He moved with his family to Jal, New Mexico where he attended Jal High School for one year then moved to Denver City, Texas where he excelled in football.  After his high school graduation, he was offered a scholarship to UT El Paso to play football, but that was not meant to be because he was drafted into the United States Army where he eventually served in the Korean War.  Before departing for the Army he married the love of his life Arlene Tallant on June 27, 1952.

After returning from the military he began his career working for El Paso Natural Gas.  He worked at Keystone Field, Jal #1, Guadalupe Station, Algeria, Corona, and Gail. While in Algeria, they were able to travel all over Europe. After retirement they moved to Par Village in Comanche, Texas. At that time, they began their retirement and traveled to every state including Alaska and Canada.  They eventually moved to San Angelo, Texas to be closer to family.  While in San Angelo he began volunteering at Shannon Hospital and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing golf, attending grandchildren’s sporting events, and woodworking which he continued until their move to Granbury Texas.

Preceding him in death were his mother, father, and his brother Bobby R. Sturman. He is survived by his daughters Cindy Bragg (Larry), Becky Cox (Larry). Granddaughters Alana Chowaniec (Scott), Jolene Curtis (James), Amy Goodwin (Jeff), Kelly Kennedy (Bill), Ashley Gladden and his thirteen great-grandchildren Evan, Ryan, Landry, Dylan, Kyle, Samantha, Olivia, Logan, Jackson, Liam, Graham, Kline, and Ruger.

We would like to thank Goodtree assisted living and Wings over Texas for such compassionate care the last days of his life.
