STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State Women’s Track and Field was slated third in the 2025 WAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Pre-Championship Coaches’ Poll the conference office announced on Thursday afternoon.

After five weekend meets in their regular season schedule, the Texans are a week away from competing in the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Seattle, Wash. from Feb. 28 to March 1. For the first time since joining the WAC in 2020, the Texan women’s squad was ranked third in the pre-championship coaches’ poll. All seven head coaches in the conference submitted their top three in the league prior to next week’s meet. Utah Valley and Grand Canyon are the only schools to rank above Tarleton in the poll.

Last year both Texan squads posted their best finish in program history at the WAC Indoor Championships. The men finished in sixth with the women tying for seventh. On the men’s side, Gabriele Tosti took home gold in the triple jump. On the women’s side, four school records were set. Hannah Cade broke the school record in the pole vault and earned silver with her final clearance of 3.85 meters.

This season has been a very historic two months for the Texan women. In all, 10 school records have been broken and 30 top 10 performance bests have been posted by the women’s squad.

Redshirt-freshman Victoria Cameron ranks fifth in the NCAA in the 60-meter dash with the new school and WAC all-time record. Her 7.14 second-mark in the event is tied for the 12th best in the world. Cameron appears destined to break the WAC Championships record in the 60, with five of her six times this year faster than the current record set in 2012 of 7.24 seconds.

Freshman Malak Rashwan has been a standout for the Texans not only breaking two school records, but also the Egypt national record as well. Rashwan ran 8.51 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles at the Stan Scott Invite and Multis to break her school record in the event for the third time this season and break the Egyptian national record for the second time this year. She also posted the school record in the pentathlon at the same meet scoring 3,553 points.

Morgan Lamberson also set a pair of school records during the regular season. The junior broke both the 800-meter and mile program records at the Jarvis Scott Invite last weekend. In the 800, she crossed in 2:11.84 nearly a whole second ahead of the previous record held by Jenna Brazeal. On the final day of the event, she broke one of the longest-standing school records shattering the indoor mile program record by seven seconds. She finished in 4:58.67 to set the new record previously held by Lindsey Hinton set in 2014.

Lauren Roy and Hanna Dudley set the new school record in 200 last week at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. Dudley broke the record in the morning running 23.92 followed by Roy later in the afternoon. Roy’s 23.92 performance touted her the fastest Ireland-born woman in the 200 this calendar year.

The Texan women have eight athletes that currently rank in the top three in the WAC in 11 events after the conclusion of the regular season. Three Texans own the best performance in their event in the regular season. Cameron leads the WAC in the 60-meters with all six of her times she ran this season faster than the rest of the athletes in the conference. Jourdaine Cerenil and Vanessa Rolan are tied for the best in the WAC in the high jump with a best height of 1.70 meters.

The women’s squad ranked 22nd in the South Central region and 55th in the NCAA in the most recent USTFCCA polls. USTFCCCA also has the Texans ranked third in the WAC.

Head coach Bobby Carter is in his first season at the helm of the Texan program. Coach Carter previously served as an assistant coach for the University of Arizona. Carter was an elite athlete himself, starring in jump at Nebraska. During his time competing from 2009-14, he earned a pair of All-American honors. Him and his staff will embark on their first WAC Indoor Championships next week.
