Edmond (Eddie) Ramsey Howard, 81 of Dublin, Texas was born July 14, 1943, to Joseph (Joe) Clayton Howard Sr. and Gladys Mae Ramsey Howard. He passed away on March 27, 2025.
Eddie was raised on the family dairy farm and cut, raked and baled hay for the public. While in school, he enjoyed showing his registered dairy cattle. He was president of the FFA and won many awards on the Dairy Judging Team. He was the first recipient from Dublin to be awarded the American Farmer Degree at the National FFA Convention.
He graduated from Dublin High School in 1961, attended Tarleton State College for two years and transferred to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas where he received his Master of Education Degree. Eddie married Mary Bray on December 20, 1963, and they spent 61 wonderful years together. After his graduation in 1966, they moved to Cross Plains where he taught Science, drove the school bus, and welcomed their daughter, Dana. In 1970, they moved to Stephenville where he was employed by the Texas A&M Agriculture Experiment Station doing peanut genetic research. He was an active member of the Stephenville Sportsman Club and the Jaycees Club. He was known as the “mister fix-it man” as he was able to work on and fix almost anything and this skill was appreciated by his family and friends.
An avid hunter, he always looked forward to deer season so he could spend time with his daughter and the Ross Rowlett family in Regency. He went on many hunting trips including New Mexico, Colorado and elk hunting in Idaho with his lifelong friend, Nubbin Pack.
He was a faithful member of Greens Creek Baptist Church where he held several different positions. He loved spending time managing the farm and raising beef cattle. He had a great love of all animals. He traveled to many states for fun family vacations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Gladys Howard, brothers Joe. Jr. and Don Howard and sisters Jane Hogue and Mary Blackman.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Bray Howard, Daughter, Dana and husband Michael Herod and sister-in-law, Ola Faye Howard along with cherished relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Stephenville Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Stephenville Funeral Home on April 1, 202,5 at 2:00 PM.
Interment will follow at the Upper Greens Creek Cemetery Dublin, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Cowboy Capital MS Trail Ride which began in 1997 by those in the Multiple Sclerosis Support Group at P O Box 159, Morgan Mill, TX 76465 or Samaritans Purse Ministries.
