STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State Women’s Golf’s best season in its NCAA Division I era keeps elevating. On Thursday, the Western Athletic Conference announced Tarleton State has won two of the conference’s most prestigious awards.
Texan Women’s Golf head coach Isabel Jimenez was named the WAC Co-Coach of the Year, and Louise Depadt was named the WAC Co-Golfer of the Year. Depadt was also one of five named to the 2025 All-WAC First Team, and teammate Lou Deltombe was named to the 2025 All-WAC Second Team.
“This has been a special season for Texan Women’s Golf, and I’m so happy to hear that our head coach Isabel Jimenez and the very talented Louise Depadt have won these prestigious conference awards,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Steve Uryasz. “They have represented this institution admirably and the future has never been brighter for the program.”
Jimenez becomes the third head coach in Tarleton State’s NCAA Division I era to be named the conference coach of the year, joining Texan Tennis head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron (WAC in 2022) and Texan Football head coach Todd Whitten (UAC in 2023). Jimenez has also earned the first coach of the year award for the program since her predecessor Jerry Doyle, a Texan Hall of Famer, won his 14th coach of the year award and 10th Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year award in 2017.
Tarleton State won the WAC Championship on April 16 among the nine-team field to claim Tarleton State’s first automatic NCAA Tournament berth in the university’s first full-fledged year at the NCAA Division I level. Depadt capped off a special run in the WAC Championship to win medalist honors by four strokes. She turned in a final round -6 (66) effort to finish the three-day, 54-hole outing at -10 (72-68-66). Tarleton State as a team won by three strokes at +12 (294-283-299). Besides Depadt winning at -10, Deltombe tied-sixth at +3 (73-69-77), Darianys Guzman tied-13th at +7 (74-72-77), Rebeca Fernandez tied-31st at +15 (75-74-82), while Elle Fox logged back-to-back 79’s in the final two rounds after withdrawing in the first.
This season out of 10 tournaments, the Texans have won two, finished top-two in six, finished top-three in seven, and finished top-four in eight. On May 5-7, the Texans will be competing as the No. 11 seed at the NCAA Regional Tournament, the Lubbock Regional Site. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each of the six regional sites will advance to compete in the national championships to be played May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Depadt has won Tarleton State Women’s Golf’s first conference golfer of the year award in its D1 era, the first since Sarah Gee was named the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year in 2018.
Depadt consistently was the best golfer in the WAC this season, showcased in the WAC Championship as she broke the conference tournament 54-hole record, a mark that stood for seven years.
Across 10 tournaments this season, Depadt placed in the top-10 nine times, eight times in the top-five, winning the individual title twice. She opened her year with a third place result at the UTA Maverick Classic, then closed with seven straight top-five results, including medalist honors twice over her final three events. She led the team with a 71.7 scoring average across 29 rounds, and played her best golf when she needed to most with a season-low -6 (66) in the final round of the WAC Championship.
Deltombe was named of the 10 best golfers in the WAC as she also shined for Tarleton State in her second season. Deltombe was second on the team with a 73.0 scoring average across 29 rounds, recording seven top-10 results across her 10 tournaments. Her best result came at The Judson where she took bronze after shooting -2 (73-69-72).
