Tarleton State Saddle Bronc Riders Start Strong at CNFR

STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University saddle bronc riders made their collective presence known in a big way in Sunday’s matinee performance of the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyo., capturing four of the event’s top-seven scores.

Waitley Sharon and Bailey Small sit tied for second with their identical 82.5 scores, Coleman Shallbetter was fifth with his 81 and Montgomery Parsons’ 79 was good for seventh.

Jordan Driver flashed a 2.3-second clocking for seventh in breakaway roping.

Today’s slack will feature Driver in both barrel racing and breakaway roping and Hadley Tidwell in barrel racing for the women’s team, as well as Shallbetter and Waitley in second go-round saddle bronc action. Tie-down roper Brayden Roe and steer wrestler Landris White will make their first appearances in Casper.

The CNFR preliminary runs continue through Friday, and the championship finals are set for Saturday.
