Lundberg, Greenslade and Porch Shine During Monday Slack at CNFR

STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University’s Faith Lundberg made the most of her first appearance at the College National Finals Rodeo Monday, turning in a 5.9-second time in the first go-round of goat tying during slack competition in Casper, Wyo.

The Tarleton State freshman and reigning National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Lone Star Region event champion finished the first go-round in second place, just .01 off the lead.

Teammate Rylee Abel made her second run in breakaway roping Tuesday, posting a 2.6-second run for ninth in the go-round. She carries a two-head 5.1-second total into her third go on Tuesday. Abel, the Lone Star Region reserve all-around champion, was 9.4 seconds in the goat tying and returning CNFR qualifier Kaylie Garza was 9.9.

Tarleton State’s Clay Greenslade took third among bareback riders Monday, earning 77 points. Combined with his first go-round 67, Greenslade has 144 points with his third ride scheduled for Thursday night.

Tie-down roper Dalton Porch was third Monday, too, flashing a 9-second run on his first calf. Teammate Brodey Clemons was 11th in the event with a time of 10.6, clocking his first CNFR run.

Porch, the Lone Star Region reserve all-around champion also posted an eighth-place 4.9-second run in steer wrestling.

Montgomery Parsons, Jace Lomheim, and Clemons will each make two appearances in Tuesday’s CNFR action. Saddle bronc rider Parsons will hit the arena in slack as well as in the evening performance, as will bareback rider Lomheim and calf roper Clemons.

Porch will make his second go-round runs in both tie-down roping and steer wrestling during Tuesday’s slack and goat tyers Kaylie Garza and Faith Lundberg will make their second CNFR runs Tuesday night.
