Sport: (December 3, 2014) — Stephenville (5-0) overcame cold shooting with good defense Tuesday evening, staying unbeaten with a 39-28 road win over Breckenridge.
The Bees jumped ahead 26-12 at halftime, then worked on different looks in the second half, especially on the defensive end.
“We had a little breathing room so we worked on some different stuff,” he said. “We ran a different defense I wanted to look at in the fourth quarter, and that’s when they scored 10 points.”
Bayleigh Chaviers led Stephenville with nine points, while Cassidy Cline scored seven of her eight before regulation. Lyndi Graham and Kali Smith had six each, Robbi Elliott and Lariat Larner both had four and Bethanie Bouchey netted two.
Stephenville competes Thursday through Saturday in the annual Glen Rose Lions Club Tournament. The Bees will have teams scattered throughout the area with their junior varsity club going to Dublin and the freshman team to Mineral Wells, both for tournaments.
The Yellow Jackets also played Tuesday evening. Still shorthanded, they fell to Whitney, 49-33. Up next is a trip to Lake Worth for tournament play Thursday through Saturday.
