(September 21, 1938 — May 6, 2026)
Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV) “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things, there is no law.” If you knew Marjorie Littleton, no further explanation is required, for the fruits of the Spirit were evident in the way she lived her life. She was love, she was joy. She was kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and goodness wrapped into one incredible woman.
Marjorie Ann Littleton, 87 years young, passed into her promise of eternity on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at her home with loved ones at her side. Her life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stephenville Funeral Home with Reverend Ken May officiating. Burial will follow at Clairette Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Stephenville Funeral Home.
Marjorie was born September 21, 1938, in San Augustine, Texas to Samuel Hayden Knighton and Etta Marie Phelps Knighton. She was raised in the small community of Douglass, Texas, the eldest daughter of a Baptist deacon along with five siblings. It was there that her wonderfully warm character was fostered. She was a caring, generous, hospitable woman with a contagious smile and way of drawing people together. She was truly one of the most joyful people and never met a stranger. Her life was defined with a gift for nurturing family, extended family, and others.
She graduated from Douglass High School in 1957 and attended business college in Angleton, Texas before marrying James Allen Littleton on June 28, 1958 in Angleton. Together, they built a life in Stephenville, Texas, centered around family, church, community involvement and caring for others. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stephenville for 68 years. Marjorie and James were blessed with two devoted children, who she loved dearly while supporting everything they did with all her might. Marjorie also called many others her second children, and her home was always a welcoming haven.
Marjorie proudly retired from State Farm Insurance in Stephenville, at the age of 70 years young, where she served with dedication, distinction, honors, and the reward of many beloved clients she called friends. Her kindness touched countless people. She helped and loved them well, over a 30-year career. Promptly following, she happily handed out a new business card, dubbing herself A Blessed Lady and Cookie Maker to carry on a lifetime of sharing treats, meals and care-packages. Marjorie was always feeding someone a generous portion. Her love language of hospitality was effortless, and over the years she could be found pouring into local boy scouts, girl scouts, room mothering, church activities, SHS Band Fans, office parties, hosting AHS ladies luncheons, just naming a few. She was a mentor at doing life and taught that the rare gift of truly memorable things could be found in ordinary moments. She is remembered for the way she made people feel. Seen. Loved. Accepted. Safe. Important. She carried joy with her everywhere she went and generously shared it. For the lesson was, the love you give will always come back to you multiplied. That is who she was and part of her remains with all who knew her. She was an excellent seamstress, made the absolute best lemonade with the lemons she had, loved her gardens and loved to share it. She even raised baby goats for a season as a hobby for her grandchildren! She even lived a servant’s heart after it was time to sit, watching over multiple friends in retirement.
Her home reflected her heart, a devotion and career she never retired from, with her most important titles being that of Wife, Mom, Grammy, Great-Grammy and VIP Cheerleader of a family spanning three generations. She is even today… so proud of her family.
Marjorie leaves her legacy of love and devotion for a family who adored her. She is survived by a son, Barry Littleton of Stephenville and a daughter, Cyndee Littleton Baldridge of Bluff Dale; three well-loved grandchildren, Ross Baldridge (Heather) of Stephenville, Abby Baldridge Richardson (Eric) of Aledo, and Sawyer Baldridge of East Hampton, Connecticut; her crown is jeweled with six great-grandchildren, Clark, Claire, Carly Jo and Callie Baldridge of Stephenville, and Rhett and Lottie Richardson of Aledo. She is also survived by one sister, Janelle Garette, ten beautiful and accomplished nieces and nephews and an endless collection of friends. A wink and a smile here, everyone was her favorite.
We are comforted with peace knowing she spends her eternity with Jesus, alongside those gone before her. James preceded her in death on September 11, 2008, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary. Also gone before her, are her parents, four siblings, Hayden Jr Knighton, Marlene Tarrant, Barbara Powell and Stephen Knighton, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Littleton in 1982.
We celebrate the beautiful life she lived, the joy, smiles and cookies she gave so freely to everyone around her, and we will miss her so. A cookie reception will be held in her honor following the service, in true Margie fashion and the hospitality she was just. so. good. at. to leave us all feeling just a little bit better and a lot more cared for, than when we arrived.

I am so sorry to hear of Marjorie’s passing. She was always so friendly and helpful when she worked at The insurance company. If you ever needed help just call Marjorie! She will be missed by all those who new and loved her. Prayers for all, Jan Maltby
