Turtle Powell and Dakota Kirchenschlager have been white-hot to start the team roping, winning each of the opening two rounds in dominant fashion. With Powell, of Stephenville, heading and Kirchenschlager, of Morgan Mill heeling, the tandem roped their calf in a blistering 3.8 seconds Friday. That was seven-tenths faster than anyone else a night after they won the opening performance by half a second.

At 7.8 seconds on two head, Powell and Kirchenschlager sit atop the average by 6.3 seconds over Clay Tryan of Lipan and Jade Corkill of Huckabay. Tryan and Corkill were fourth Friday with a time of 9.40.

After finishing first and fourth, respectively, in Thursday’s opening round, both Marty Yates and Cody Ohl missed their calves in in the tie-down roping Friday.

Eight performances remain and will continue nightly, as will updates from The Flash.
