Sport: GLEN ROSE (November 28, 2014) — Hunter Wood passed for two touchdowns and rushed for a pair of crucial two-point conversions as Hico avenged a regular season loss and eliminated Crawford in a 16-14 Class 2A Division I regional semifinal slugfest at Tiger Stadium Friday night.
Wood hit a wide open Lane Turner over the middle for a 23-yard touchdown with 4:05 remaining, and took a quarterback draw into the end zone for the winning two points.

The Hico defense was strong all night, especially in crunch time. The Tigers made two four-down stands to stop long Crawford drives in the fourth quarter, and stopped Crawford inside the one-yard line as time expired in the first half.
Hico advances to the regional final and state quarterfinal to face unbeaten Mart at 7:30 p.m. next Friday, December 5, at Waco ISD Stadium. Mart walloped Tolar 52-14 in its regional playoff.
Wood’s first touchdown pass was to Hunter Mullins in the second quarter. Wood scored the extra two points on the same QB draw that he later used to provide the winning margin.
The regional playoff was a rematch of a week two contest that Crawford won 35-14. Hico had multiple starters out with injury and went on to begin the season 1-4. As all it’s starters – with the exception of 2013 all-state linebacker Blake Hyles – returned, the Tigers caught fire and now have seven straight wins.
