First responders including Stephenville Fire, EMS and Police, were dispatched to Washington Street in Stephenville just before 6:30 p.m. in reference to reports that a person had been hit by a pickup traveling down Washington.

Despite closing the street earlier, as of 7:30 p.m. traffic was moving in the area again. Officers on scene closed the street to preserve the scene and to ensure the safety of the patient on the ground at the time.
First responders to the scene called for CareFlite, but both that company and another air ambulance both denied assistance with transport because of low visibility in the area due to weather. Stephenville EMS transported the patient to Texas Health Stephenville instead.

The Flash received reports from units on scene that the victim sustained “Level 2 head trauma” in the accident. However, the patient was alert at the time of transport and communicating some with emergency personnel. This unfortunate civilian will most likely be in hospital for a while as they recover from their injuries and will miss work. It appeared the vehicle, a white Ford pickup, was traveling eastbound on Washington Street when the pedestrian entered the roadway and encountered the vehicle. No further information has been released as the investigation is still ongoing.
