Sport: STEPHENVILLE (December 8, 2014) — Stephenville claimed a total of 25 spots on the 3-4A Division I all-district football team, released Monday.

The Yellow Jackets were the last surviving playoff team from the district, despite finishing third in league play. They reached the Region I-4A Division I final and state quarterfinal before being eliminated by Graham last Friday. It was Stephenville’s sixth quarterfinal appearance in seven years under head coach Joe Gillespie.

District champ Abilene Wylie and runner-up Big Spring took four of the five superlative awards, but Stephenville was well represented with 10 first-team selections.

Missing the contest against Wylie and all but the opening plays against Big Spring cost Under Armour All-American quarterback Jarrett Stidham a shot at any superlative district honor, but he was still the first-team quarterback. When all the dust cleared following a deep playoff run, The Elite 11 alumnus and Texas Tech pledge was responsible for more than 3,900 total yards and 51 touchdowns with just three total turnovers.

Joining Stidham as first-team offensive selections are sophomore running back Kaegun Williams, junior tight end Josh Nowell, junior receiver Darian Brown, senior offensive lineman Noah Perez and senior punter Austin Stufflebean.

Williams already owns a Stephenville career record with 50 total touchdowns. He set the school single-season yardage mark this year, rushing for more than 1,500 yards and gaining more than 1,200 receiving.

First-team selections from the Stephenville defense are senior nose guard Cameron Reynolds, senior end Justice Bethea, senior inside linebacker Josh Gillespie, senior outside linebacker Justice Wisener and junior defensive back Jon Clark Giddings.
