Turfgrass Field Day slated for Jan. 30

STEPHENVILLE (January 21, 2015) — Would you like to improve the aesthetics of your yard by getting rid of unwanted weeds and save water?

Tarleton State University and Erath County AgriLife Extension Service will host a free Turfgrass Field Day for the public on Friday, Jan. 30, from 2-4 p.m., at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center located at 1229 N. US Hwy 281 in Stephenville.

The program will cover several topics with the focus on turfgrass management and proper fertilization, weed management in the lawn, drift minimization and rain water harvesting.

Sessions will be led by Dr. Dotty Woodson, Extension Program Specialist, Water Resources at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Dallas; Dr. Hennen Cummings, associate professor and director of Turfgrass Management at Tarleton; and Lonnie Jenschke, AgriLife Extension agent, agriculture and natural resources.

One hour of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be offered to those in attendance with a TDA pesticide applicator license.
