Derrick GARTON has been included in the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Program and his reward will be up to $3,000 for specific information resulting in his arrest.
Derrick GARTON is a high-risk sex offender with ties to New Boston, Texas (near Texarkana), and to Mississippi. In 2008, he was convicted of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact after an incident in Bowie County involving a 12-year-old female girl. Prior to this incident, GARTON had been convicted of Burglary of a Habitation. He served time in TDCJ prison for both incidents.
GARTON was last discharged from TDCJ prison in June 2014. Two months later, he was arrested in Long Beach, Mississippi, for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements. In November 2014, GARTON was placed on probation but soon after failed to comply with sex offender registration requirements again.
On December 22, 2014, the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office issued warrants for GARTON’s arrest for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements and Forgery to Defraud or Harm Another.
GARTON has had previous employment in the small engine repair industry.
