STEPHENVILLE (February 17, 2015) — Stephenville proved it can measure to Abilene Wylie and other top 10 teams Tuesday night, again.

The Honeybees improved to 2-1 against teams ranked in the 4A top 10 by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, 2-0 when they have their key players who are often out for basketball.

Bayleigh Chaviers and Tatum Sharp each scored to build a 2-0 halftime lead, and a Wylie goal 10 minutes into the second half only changed the final score as Stephenville held on, 2-1.

Chaviers, a junior committed to Miami (Fla.), score the opening goal, then she spearheaded the attack on the second, when the ball went from Chaviers to Skylar Chipman to Sharp, who put it in the back of the net for what ultimately stood as the game winner.

Stephenville’s other top 10 win was a 4-0 thumping of No. 6 Kennedale, which was No. 3 at that time. The Bees lost 2-1 to Abilene Wylie with their basketball girls out of the lineup.

Stephenville will have all hands – minus the injured Codi Beyer and Cassidy Cline – on deck again Friday when the Bees visit Brownwood, a night after the basketball girls face Decatur in an area-round playoff in Brock.
