With spring comes local election time, and this year is no different. So, Erath County voters, get your ID’s and voter registration cards ready cause early voting starts Monday.

According to Erath County officials, early voting will be held both at the Courthouse in Stephenville and the Courthouse Annex in Dublin Monday, April 27 through Tuesday, May 5, and during early voting Erath County voters can stop at any location to vote.

Susan Driscoll, Erath County Voting Clerk, said both locations would be open April 27 through May 1 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. On Monday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 5, both locations will be open to early voters from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The regular election will be held from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. Driscoll reminds voters that on election day, you can only vote where you’re registered. If you’re voting in the Dublin City Council election, you can only vote at the Courthouse Annex in Dublin. If you are voting in the Stephenville City Council and/or the Stephenville ISD election, you can only vote at the Erath County Courthouse in Stephenville.

Driscoll also reminded voters to be sure and bring a valid ID when they head to the polls.

“Everyone must bring a valid Texas ID with them to vote,” she said on Friday. “It doesn’t even matter if you have your registration card, if you’ve got a valid ID, we can look you up that way.”

There is only one contested seat in the Dublin races, with former councilman Tommy Sperry facing off against incumbent David Zinck for a seat in Ward 3. Dublin Mayor David Leatherwood, Ward 1’s John Johnson, Ward 2’s Bobby Mendez and Ward 4’s Melvin ‘Mac’ McMullen were all unopposed.

The same was true for Dublin ISD board members up for re-election with three seats up for grabs, those held by Charlie Bradberry, Jeff Weaver and Lathes Towns. However, only two of those incumbents are returning – Bradberry and Weaver. Towns has opted to not run again .

Up for election in Stephenville City Council race are Justin Allison and Mark McClinton for Place 1; incumbent Doug Svien is uncontested for Place 3; Andrew Hansen and Rhett Harrison for Place 5; and incumbent Sherry Zachery is also uncontested for Place 7.

Incumbents Gary Sult (Place 1), Sherrie Evans (Place 2) and Keri Vanden Berge (Place 3) are all unopposed for their seats.
