(May 1, 2015) — China Spring scored seven runs in the eighth inning to defeat Stephenville 10-3 in a non-district make-up game at James T. Young Baseball Field Friday evening.
The playoff-bound Yellow Jackets will be right back on their home diamond Saturday, when they conclude their regular season with a non-district make-up contest against Waco Robinson. First pitch is slated for noon.

The Jackets shifted around their lineup with leadoff hitter and catcher Ben Martin running in the regional track and field meet this weekend. Alex Jimenez led off with Josh Bulla batting in the No. 2 spot. They combined to reach base six times, including five by walk.
Sam Weber and Cole Harmon were each 2-for-4 from the plate and each drove in a run. Harmon had a double, the only extra-base hit for Stephenville and one of just two in the game. Seth Huepel also went 2-for-4.

One of the biggest bright spots for Stephenville was the pitching of Jimenez. He worked what normally would be a complete game, going seven innings and allowing three runs – two earned – on five hits with five strikeouts and a walk. He threw 100 pitches through seven innings, and in a game with no district or playoff implications, head coach James Boxley decided the senior had shown enough.
The eighth inning featured five China Spring hits and three walks.
Saturday’s game also has no district or playoff implications. The Jackets finished 6-4A alone in second place and face Burkburnett in the Region I-4A bi-district playoffs next week. The best-of-three series is set for Thursday, Friday and, if needed, Saturday, all at Graford.
