ERATH COUNTY (May 20, 2015) — Local musician Courtney Patton took to the fairway to raise cash and awareness for senior hunger at the annual Golf & Guitars event in Sacramento, CA.
Patton wooed crowds with her vocal skills the night before the tournament at the songwriter’s showcase Monday night then wowed them on the greens Tuesday morning, taking first place and winning $10,000 for Meals on Wheels of Erath County (MOWEC) in the process.
“Senior hunger is REAL!! Sometimes the only human contact they have is with their meal delivery drivers. Sometimes the only hot meal they’ll eat is the one MOW brings to their door,” Patton said via Facebook. “My team was so talented and I’m so proud to have played for Meals on Wheels of Erath County!”
Patton’s team members included David Sutherland, Pat Henry, Nick Johnson, and Greg Parry.

MOWEC Executive Director Whitney Lee was touched by Patton’s contribution.
“Courtney was a board member for us a few years ago and she brought such a wonderful energy to our organization. I’m so grateful that she chose to support MOWEC through this tournament,” Lee said.
MOWEC is celebrating 20 years of service and 700,000 meals this year. The tournament winnings will go a long way to making sure the organization keeps moving forward for another 20 years.
