ERATH COUNTY (May 19, 2015) — American Legion Post 240 and the American Legion Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 234, Veterans of Foreign War Post 7835 and VFW Auxiliaries recently announced the appointment of Tamara Barker to the Erath County Veterans Service Office.
Barker comes to Erath County with nine years experience as the National Veteran Service Officer in Taylor County. She and her husband, U.S. Air Force – retired, have already moved to the area to be closer to their daughter who is a high school teacher and golf coach in Granbury. Barker is a Gulf War veteran with the United States Air Force. She holds service officer certifications from various national organizations and is looking forward to working closely with veterans in Erath County.
Before moving to the area from Abilene, Barker said she had begun looking for similar jobs in the area. Both Barker’s husband and daughter are going to graduate school and she said she is happy to be closer to her daughter and working with veterans and their families.
“I most look forward to getting to know all of the veterans in Erath County,” Barker said of her new position. “Helping them secure their benefits and benefits for their families and spouses is what it’s all about, and I’m looking forward to making that happen.”
Please join the veterans organizations in welcoming Barker and her family to Erath County in a come-and-go reception on the Thursday, May 28 from 2-4 p.m. at the Donald R. Jones Justice Center Jury Room (located at 112 W. College St. in Stephenville).
