VENUS (August 14, 2015) — Dublin used a noticeable advantage on the offensive and defensive lines to dominate Venus in each club’s preseason football scrimmage Friday evening. The Lions scored three times – once defensively – and Venus just once in the open field, then Dublin outscored Venus 4-1 when each club ran 10 plays from inside the opponent’s 10 to complete the event.
“It’s the best we’ve looked before the middle of the season in the time I’ve been here,” said fifth-year Dublin head coach Bob Cervetto, who in 2014 guided the Lions to their first playoff win in 50 seasons. “I don’t think it was until week five or six last year when we played close to this. I thought we were physical and I thought we wore them down a little bit. I can see the work we’ve put in is paying off, now we just gotta get back home and put in some more.”
