(January 5, 2015) — Tarleton men’s basketball is back in the top 10. The Texans are ranked No. 9 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 poll.
Tarleton is 11-2 on the season and 1-0 in the Lone Star Conference after a 71-61 win over Cameron on Jan. 2.
This is the 107th week Tarleton has been ranked in the NABC poll in program history. Tarleton has been ranked 38 straight weeks in the top 25 and 36 straight weeks in the top 15.
The Texans were ranked No. 12 in last week’s poll and is the highest ranked two-loss team. Both of Tarleton’s losses have been by a combined four points.
Tarleton is one of three Lone Star Conference teams to be ranked – with all three positioned in the top 10. Angelo State is ranked fourth and Midwestern State is sixth. Texas A&M-Commerce received six votes. Delta State, who Tarleton defeated 80-71 on Nov. 18, is received 21 votes in the poll.
Tarleton takes on Angelo State on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. It’s the first top 10 matchup for Tarleton since the Texans defeated No. 9 Mount Olive in the 2015 NCAA Elite Eight.
