(February 4, 2016) — Julie Morken scored five goals as Stephenville found the back of the net 16 times in two easy wins on opening day of tournament play in Argyle Thursday.

Morken had a first-half hat trick in a 11-0 blowout of Dallas Uplift Academy then scored twice in a 3-0 win over Pampa.

Bayleigh Chaviers opened the scoring in the third minute against Pampa, taking an assist from Morken on a cross from the right side. Morken then scored in the 19th and 60th minutes, the last coming on a mishandle by the keeper on a shot from outside the right side.

Jordyn Howle earned a pair of shutouts in net as the Stephenville win streak grew to 11 a day after four Honeybees committed to college programs – Howle to Texas A&M-Commerce, Chaviers to Miami (Fla.) and twins Shelby and Peyton Wood to Concordia (Tex.).

The earlier match was never really a match at all, as Stephenville led 8-0 by intermission.

Morken scored three times, Ralee Reed and Codi Beyer twice each and Skylar Chipman, Savannah Alford, Alexis De los Santos and Maddie Heupel all scored once.

The tournament continues through Saturday.
