Ronnie Joe Lancaster, 69, of May, Texas, was freed of his earthly suffering on October 13, 2016. He was surrounded by his family, and relieved of pulmonary fibrosis, the disease that had consumed him. He was born in May, Texas, on June 23, 1947, and lived most of his life there. He served in the United States Army and returned home to work for 49 years as a maintenance mechanic at Superior Cable. He married Linda Lewis in 1971.

There was nothing that he could not repair or remake. He loved the quite life of the country, good food, old music, and mowing grass. Although his retirement was brief, he enjoyed every day of it, quickly becoming a part of the “Romeos” (Retired Old Men Eating Out).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lota (Wagnon) Lancaster, a brother Carlton, step-mother Nell Lancaster, and nephew Dudley Lancaster. He is survived by Linda, his wife of 45 years; his daughter Katy, as well as her husband Barry and their son Ian of Kohler, Wisconsin; his brother Gary Don Lancaster and wife Johnnie Sue of May, along with their daughters Wendy Grove and Tonya Maultsby and their families; and his step-sister Nelda Crawford and her husband, C.M. He is also survived by his close friend, “Buster” Simpson of Blanket; and his animal companions, Dixie and Pip.
