ERATH COUNTY (February 13, 2017) – A Dublin family is preparing to bury a loved one following an altercation turned intoxication manslaughter on Saturday.

Jamie Williams, 33, died as the result of injuries sustained when she was reportedly struck by a pickup truck driven by Fred Gonzales, 42, also of Dublin.

The nature of their relationship is not clear at this time, but it appears it was at some point amicable. A Facebook post made by Williams shows she was “feeling happy,” while spending time with Gonzales on December 18.

Meanwhile, the ongoing investigation has revealed that the two were traveling together along CR 305 when they became involved in an “altercation.”

The disagreement led Williams to exit the vehicle, according to Chief Detective Heath Crossland with the Erath County Sheriff’s Office, who said Gonzales left her on CR 305 and returned sometime later.

Law enforcement officials say Williams was run over by Gonzales’ pickup truck during a second disagreement.

Williams apparently suffered major injuries as a result the indecent. She was reportedly taken by Gonzales to a Dublin address. EMS was called to that location and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Dublin police had reportedly detained the suspect for “suspicion of driving while intoxicated.”

“Williams was immediately transported to Texas Harris Methodist Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries,” Crossland said.

Facebook posts from a long list of friends and relatives refer to her as a good, beautiful person with a positive attitude and infectious smile.

While deputies arrested and charged Gonzales for intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony, the incident is being investigated as a homicide, a higher offense, punishable by a greater length of time.

He is being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond, but officials with at the county jail say Gonzales, who is being held on a parole warrant, will not be allowed to post bond.

The investigation was active and ongoing at the time of this report.
