STEPHENVILLE (July 11, 2017) – Head coach Mary Schindler has announced her 2017 volleyball schedule, which includes a season-opening tournament in Stephenville and a trip to Denver, Colorado for one of the most prestigious Division II volleyball tournaments in the nation – the Colorado Premier Challenge.
“We’re excited about the schedule we’ve put together for the upcoming season,” said Schindler. “We’re going to open the season at home this year with a tournament, which I know will have the fans excited, but we’ve also been invited to participate in the Colorado Premier Challenge and that’s one of the best tournaments in the nation. An invitation to that tournament says a lot about how far our program has come and it’s something I’m very proud to be a part of.”
Tarleton will open the season with an eight-team, two-day tournament in Stephenville on September 1-2 before heading to Denver for the Premier Challenge on September 8-9.
After tournament play, Tarleton will play a single road match at Dallas Baptist on September 14 before heading to Denton to begin Lone Star Conference action on September 15 against Texas Woman’s. Only a doubleheader with Lubbock Christian and St. Mary’s on September 29 will break up Tarleton’s league action, which carries over the rest of the season – ending with home matches against Western and Eastern New Mexico on November 10-11.
Tarleton is coming off a 27-7 season with a 16-4 mark in league play last season. The TexAnns have qualified for the NCAA playoffs in three consecutive seasons, which are the first three berths in school history.
The TexAnns return All-American and Daktronics National Player of the Year OH Hailey Roberts and All-Region Setter Jordyn Keamo, as well as Adrianna Knutson, Hannah McManus, Michaela Rodriguez, and Chandler Gow from last year’s starting lineup.
