(June 1, 2018) Stephenville’s future high school football players will be hitting the gridiron Saturday to show off the skills they have learned during the 2018 Yellow Jacket Football Camp held this week.
“We’ve had a lot of fun this week!” Coach Greg Winder said between blasts of his whistle. “Saturday they will put it all together during our tournament.”
More than 100 students entering grades 1-8 took part with a heavy focus on fundamentals even when the youngsters were competing in relays. Correct form, technique, handoffs were all being coached and that was just during a 100-meter sprint relay.
Saturday’s tournaments will start at 8 am for grades 1-4 and noon for grades 6-8. The format will feature 40-minute flag football games.
“We want everyone to come out and take part and cheers these kids on,” Winder said. “They’ve done a great job.”
The tournament was originally scheduled to be held at Tarleton State University but has been moved to the high school practice fields.
