ERATH COUNTY (December 17, 2018) – First responders were dispatched to a crash early Sunday morning where one local man lost his life.
According to reports from the Texas Highway Patrol, units were notified of a single-vehicle crash on US 67, 2.6 miles north of Stephenville, at approximately 1:27 a.m. Sunday, December 16. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 2006 Mazda 6, driven by Leobardo Espinoza-Sanchez, 52 of Stephenville, was traveling westbound on 67 when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway and struck the guardrail.
Troopers reported the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Erath County Justice of the Peace, Shawnee Bass. DPS has notified the family.
First responders cleaned the area and cleared the scene just before 3 a.m. and TXDOT was notified of the guardrail damage.
