Palmer, Williams hit NCAA Provisional Marks as Tarleton wraps up preseason finale at Oliver Jackson Twilight

ABILENE – Tarleton’s men and women track teams wrap up their last preseason meet before the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships with two NCAA Provisional Mark.

Rascellis Williams hit his second NCAA Provisional Mark of the season on Thursday in the high jump. Williams placed second and tied his season best with a jump of 6′ 9.75″, which puts him 16thin the nation.

Alan Palmer, the freshman from Vista Ridge High School, hit a NCAA Provisional Mark in the long jump. Palmer placed fourth with a jump of 23′ 11″, which is also a new collegiate best.

In the sprints and hurdles, Tarleton had three top-5 finishes. Jasmine McQuirter had the top finish for the TexAnns placing fourth in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 12.22. Anterius Brown ran a season best time in the 400-meters (48.15) and finished fourth overall. Cornelius Coleman ran a collegiate best in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.55.

In the jumps, Tarleton had five top-5 finishes. The TexAnns Gentrye Munden placed fourth in the high jump with a clearing height of 5′ 1.75″. Jasmine McQuirter also placed in the top-5 in the long jump, finishing fifth with a jump of 18′ 9.25″. Rounding out the top-5 finishes was Jevon Wallace. Wallace had a colligate best jump in the long jump with a mark of 23′ 6.75″.

Tarleton will head to the Lone Star Conference Championships in Portales, NM on May 2 and will go through the 4th.
