Murder charges in overnight stabbing

ERATH COUNTY — A male suspect sits in the Erath County Jail on one count of murder while another family is waking up to tragic news this morning. Twenty-two-year-old Juan Jose Voillejo Nunez has been taken into custody in the overnight stabbing in Erath County that left another person dead.

According to reports, first responders were dispatched to a call of a stabbing just before 10 p.m. The caller said the victim was at a residence on County Road 206 and the aggressor had fled the scene. 

Erath County EMS were able to find the victim and immediately called for an air ambulance, however, before the helicopter arrived, EMS canceled the request. Scanner reports state EMS personnel began CPR and headed to the Stephenville ER.

Deputies had a description of the vehicle (a blue Ford Expedition) and were able to make a stop shortly after the call came into dispatch. Two subjects were detained at the scene and taken for questioning at the Erath County Sheirff’s Office. Nunez was questioned and admitted to the stabbing. He was taken into custody for murder by Erath County Sheriff’s investigators. The vehicle was taken to the Erath County Sheriff’s Department as part of the investigation.

Nunez is being held in the Erath County Jail on one charge of murder and as of 8:25 a.m. Monday did not have a bond amount set.
