Derone Ilene Jenkins-Todd was born May 21,1955 in Dallas, Tx and passed away on December 31, 2019 in Houston.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 4th at 4:00 p.m. at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, your local fire department or charity of your choice.

Derone graduated from Stephenville High School in 1973, the University of Houston (B.A. Sociology) in 1978 and the University of North Texas (PhD in Adult Education) in 1993. Her professional career included Dallas County Community Colleges, Plano ISD, and 25 years with Barios Techologies. At Barios Technologies, she supported NASA as an Instructional Designer and Logistics Flight Controller; as well as provided Safety consulting to British Petroleum.

After Derone’s retirement in 2015, she volunteered with a variety of organizations including the Travis County Emergency Services District 1/7, Friends of the Nameless School House, and the Stephenville Historical Society. She was a passionate volunteer for women’s shelters and animal shelters. Her hobbies included travel, knitting, quilting, cooking, reading and cross fit.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Keith Todd, her mother, Myrna Jenkins, sisters Denae Lancaster (husband, Jack) and Delette Gazaway (husband, Jim), and nephews, Conley Ligon (wife, Desiree and daughter, Rebecca), Anthony Ligon and Davey Steele (wife, Cresenda and daughters, Auburn and Berkeley), a large extended family, many friends and three Shelties. She was preceded in death by her father, Conley.
