Harlon Koonsman was born in Stephenville, Texas on November 1, 1940, to parents Hugh and Addie Lee Koonsman, and passed away in Hico, Texas on May 21, 2022 at age 81. Harlon started school in Clairette, then transferred to Selden for second through seventh grades, completing his education when he graduated from Hico ISD.

After graduation, Harlon married Linda Patterson in November, 1961. They had three children: Toby, Kristi, and Gabe.

Harlon loved all things that had to do with animals. He owned trucks and hauled cattle across the country, and owned and operated Hico Commission Company. Harlon was a lifelong livestock order buyer and rancher. He took great pleasure in daily chores and being a cowman. On the lighter side of being a cowboy, he enjoyed a good team of mules, wagons and good horses, as many who new Harlon can attest!
Another great love of Harlon’s life, was being Pappy to Ethan, Abby, Addelyn, and Kyler, who brought him happiness and pleasure.

Preceding Harlon in death were his parents and one brother Tony Koonsman.

Harlon is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Linda Koonsman; children Toby Koonsman, Kristi Davis, and Gabe Koonsman; grandchildren, Ethan Koonsman and wife Amenda, and Abby Davis; great grandchildren, Addelyn Koonsman and Kyler Koonsman. Harlon is also survived by his brother, Ron Koonsman, and special friend, Bill Young.

Visitation 6-8 pm Monday, May 23, 2022, at Harvest Hills Funeral Home. Services, 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at First Baptist Church, Hico, Texas, with Pastor Dace Clifton officiating. Burial to follow at Hico, Cemetery.
