(June 15, 1940 – April 10, 2023)

Dwain Shaffer passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023 at the age of 82. He was currently residing at Lake Lodge Nursing and Rehab in Lake Worth, TX. Dwain was a long-time resident of Hico, TX.
Dwain was born at home near Honey Creek south of Hico. He moved to Duffau when he was 5 years old and later moved to Hico in 1970.

Dwain was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lois Shaffer of Hico and older sister, Edna Burgan and husband, Bruce, of Alice, TX. He is survived by his younger sister, Renee Childers and husband, Leo, of Utopia, TX, and younger brother Terry Shaffer and wife, Rhonda, of Granbury, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

As a child and young man he attended Duffau Baptist Church. It was there, he received Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He worked for Hico Poultry and Egg for many years. In 1973 Dwain became employed with the City of Hico. He worked for the City of Hico until he retired.

Dwain was a quiet and reserved man who was an outdoorsman. He was a gifted fisherman and was never happier than when he had his rod and reel on the bank of the river. He enjoyed camping with his friends. He was always looking for arrow heads. He picked up pecans and enjoyed giving them to friends. He cut and delivered firewood to whomever he thought could use it. After his retirement he could daily be seen driving his pickup around Hico to visit his friends.

A graveside service will be held at the Hico City Cemetery on Thursday April 13, 2023 at 10 am.
