Stephenville wins five medals in 4A State Track and Field Meet, break school records

Stephenville HS was well represented at the 4A State Track and Field Meet this week in Austin. The Bees will be bringing home Gold and Bronze medals, while the Jackets won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

The Honeybee 4×100 and 4×200 relays both set school records and the 4×200 meter relay earned bronze medals. The 4×100 meter relay, consisting of Kenna Cashon, Marin Copeland, Mackenzie Gonzales and Tori Cameron, set a new school record, in 47.79 seconds. The 4×200 meter relay, Cameron, Cashon, Gonzales and Presley Laduque, set a school record in 1:41.05 and won third.

Honeybee Tori Cameron, a senior at SHS, not only won on the relay team but also as an individual. Cameron is not only bringing home the gold medal in the 100-meter sprint, but she also set another new school record – 11.35 seconds.

Stephenville HS junior, Creece Brister, is bringing home two state track and field medals this year. He first won a gold medal in 4A State Shot Put. He threw the shot put 58’ 1/2” to take first place. He also won a silver medal in 4A Discus with a throw of 168’ 3”. 

Yellow Jacket, EJ Hiitola, a senior, earned a bronze medal in the 4A Sate Pole Vaulting Championship with a final jump of 15’.
