TARLETON STATE

The Tarleton State volleyball program dropped the finale of the Lion Invitational in four sets (23-25, 20-25, 25-15, 18-25) to the host, Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday afternoon at The Field House. After their first tournament of the season, the Texans end the weekend, 0-3. Texas A&M-Commerce finishes the weekend, 2-1. Arkansas-Little Rock was the Lion Invitational champion with a perfect 3-0 slate. Tarleton Volleyball continues non-conference play at the Tommie Invitational Tournament in St. Paul, Minnesota, starting Thursday. This year Tarleton State was picked to finish fifth in the WAC preseason poll.

STEPHENVILLE 

After falling to No. 6 in 3A Boyd (20-2) in the finale of their weekend tournament, 25-20, 25-13, 25-23, the Stephenville Honeybee volleyball team turned it around on Tuesday with a win in three straight sets. It was a close game, but the Bees dropped the Memorial High Mavericks (13-9), 25-23, 25-22, 25-21. Up next the Honeybees will host Celina (10-9), at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, at Gandy Gym in Stephenville. 

FAITH

The Lady Knights of Stephenville FAITH are on a roll, winning their latest game against the Three Way Lady Braves in three straight sets, 25-5, 25-15, 25-14, on Tuesday in Bluff Dale. Coach Norwood was proud of where the girls are, saying she believes this was a good game to “get the serving jitters out” before Granbury CCA on Thursday, September 5. 

HICO

The Hico Lady Tigers faced some tough competition in the Clifton Tournament this past weekend, going up against Alvarado (4-16) and Valor Prep (14-8). But the coaching staff is confident these early matches will better prepare the girls for District 8, 2A. Hico traveled to Strawn on Tuesday to play the Lady Greyhounds (8-3). Up next for the Lady Tigers will be the Comanche Lady Indians (11-3) at 12 noon on Saturday, September 7, in Comanche. 

DUBLIN

The Dublin Lady Lions (4-5) had to forfeit their game Tuesday evening against the Lingleville Lady Cardinals (6-19). Dublin has faced Lingleville five other times already this season during various tournament play, winning four of those times. The Lady Lions will face the De Leon Lady Bearcats () at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September, 7, in the Bearcat Gym in De Leon. 

LINGLEVILLE 

The Lingleville Lady Cardinals (6-19) were able to get a win without stepping on the court Tuesday evening, as Dublin had to forfeit their game due to unforeseen circumstances. Last weekend the Lady Cards competed in the Dublin tournament and played against De Leon, Dublin and other area teams. Next up for Lingleville will be a home match against the Breckenridge Lady Buckaroos (9-13) at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 6. 

BLUFF DALE

The Bluff Dale Lady Bobcats (13-6-4) brought home yet another tournament championship over the weekend. This week’s title – Zephyr Tournament Champs. They beat Jonesboro, 2-1, in the tournament final. Also beating Evant, 2-1, and Santo, 2-0. The Lady ‘Cats have a win over the 2A De Leon Lady Bearcats (3-0).  

THREE WAY

The Lady Braves from Three Way fought a hard battle against the FAITH Lady Knights on Tuesday, losing in three sets, 5-25, 15-25, 14-25. But Coach Smith was proud of the girls and said they will be better against Ranger on Saturday, September 7, at 11 a.m.
