Tarleton tie-down roper leads average at CNFR

Three TSU cowboys are in top five in four events

(June 16, 2015) — Tarleton State tie down roper Landon Williams led the average through two rounds at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming.

Williams was third with a second-round time of 9.1 after placing sixth with a first-go 10.6. He’s one of three Tarleton cowboys who are in the top five in the average in four events.

Jace Lane is currently splitting third and fourth in the average in steer wrestling and is fourth in saddle-bronc riding. Lane was ninth in 5.6 seconds in round one of the steer wrestling and had a second-round run of 7.9. He covered broncs for scores of 68.5 and 66.5.

Bareback rider Devan Reilly is fifth in the average after a 76-point ride and third-place finish in round two. He scored 73 in the opening round. Kody Lamb also covered two, scoring 73 and 69.5 to hold down ninth in the average.

Here is a run down of Tarleton performances in round two and where cowboys and cowgirls sit in the average through two rounds. Round three began with full rodeo performances Tuesday night and continues through Friday. The short-go is Saturday.
