(October 10, 2015) — Hailey Roberts racked up 24 kills and the usual suspects combined for a strong supporting cast as Tarleton State made a statement by overwhelming Cameron 25-14, 25-16, 25-17 Friday at Wisdom Volleyball Gym.
It was the seventh straight win by Tarleton, which remains tied with Angelo State for second in the Lone Star Conference, half a game behind Texas Woman’s. Cameron slipped to fourth.
The turnaround time is brief for the TexAnns, as they host Midwestern State in another LSC battle at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Roberts had nine kills in the first set as Tarleton dominated from the onset with an 8-0 start against a Cameron team that began the season 14-0 before back-to-back losses to Texas Woman’s and the TexAnns.
Tarleton hit .241 as a team while limiting Cameron to an even .000. The TexAnns had 47 kills to 21, scored 57 points to 24 and did not yield a single ace.
Sophomore setter Chandler Gow racked up 37 assists and 10 digs, her third career double-double.
Seniors Meg Umbel and Kelsey Raglin were strong with Umbel tallying seven kills and five blocks while Raglin added five kills, five blocks and eight digs. Xzache Mathis had six kills and a block.
Reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week Ayssa Garcia had 14 digs and Adrianna Knutson contributed 10.
The win streak is the longest since nine straight in October of 2012. The TexAnns have not lost since their LSC opener at Angelo State on September 26.
