STEPHENVILLE (March 14, 2017) – Community members and business leaders are being invited to take a front seat on a road trip to help shape Stephenville’s future.

Next Tuesday, March 21, stakeholders, including city staffers, elected officials and representatives of Stephenville Economic Development Authority (SEDA) will board a bus bound for Austin.

John Hubbard, SEDA executive director, said about 20 seats remain and invites local residents to get a bird’s-eye view of the legislature at work.

The purpose of the trip is to enhance our region’s image in Austin and to pursue issues and legislation beneficial to the Stephenville area,” Hubbard said. “Stephenville/Tarleton State Day at the Capitol will provide an opportunity for residents to meet Texas Senators and State Representatives while offering an up-close and personal look at the Texas Legislature in action.”

A separate bus will transport representatives of Tarleton State University, including officials and members of the student body.

The combined trip will not only increase the headcount, it will also show a unified mission of attracting attention for the city and university and the entities separate and shared needs.

Hubbard said the agenda has not yet been finalized, the tentative schedule includes attendance at legislative sessions to be recognized by State Representative J.D. Sheffield and Senator Craig Estes. Subsequent group meetings are expected to be held with the Texas Water Development Board, Economic Development and Tourism and Texas Department of Agriculture.

The bus will depart from Stephenville at 5:45 a.m. and is expected to return at 6:30 p.m.
