Master, Graves score big payday in Pendleton while Brown, Long win Texarkana

(September 18, 2017) — Chad Masters and Travis Graves will be there, and you know Luke Brown and Jake Long will. The winningest of local team ropers each each had successful weekends while others are scrambling to try and qualify for the National Finals Rodeo.

Like every year, that scramble comes down to the Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo this week at Lone Star Arena, among other regular-season ending events.

Masters and Graves won almost $9,000 with winnings in two rounds and the second place average payout at Pendleton Roundup in Oregon, where they were 23.3 on three. Brown and Long entered the one-round, fastest time take all Four States Fair & Rodeo on the Arkansas side of Texarkana, winning in 4.1 seconds for payouts of $2,942 each.

Kaleb Driggers earned almost $3,000 by taking the average at the west Texas Fair & Rodeo. He and heeling partner Junior Nogueira were 8.9 on two. Huckabay heeler Paul Eaves and partner Clay Smith won the Rose City Roundup in Tyler, pocketing $1,840 in 4.1, and Sterling Smith of Stephenville won the tie-down rpoing in Sunday’s stand alone performance there, earning $914 in 7.6 seconds.
