DQ FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

Easton Jones, Sr. QB, Stephenville

Jones launched four touchdown passes to four different receivers and did it on four consecutive snaps to lead Stephenville to a 28-21 win at Brownwood last Friday. He connected with Krece Nowak for av 18-yard TD on a fourth down play to begin the fireworks, then separated defensive stops with three 1-play TD drives – 76 yards to Kade Averhoff, 92 yards to blake Aragon and 40 yards to Kyle Lindsey. The four plays produced 226 yards and built what was ultimately an insurmountable 28-7 Yellow Jacket lead. Jones began the game 9-11 passing and in the end made another big play along with Lindsey, faking a punt and completing a pass for a first down so they could run out the clock and hold on for the win in the 76th rendition of the Battle of 377.

 

DQ VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

JAYCI MORTON, MB, Stephenville

Always versatile, the junior who converted early this season from outside hitter to middle blocker had a double-digit kill performance last week, followed by 7 kills and 5 blocks in just three sets against the No. 1 ranked team in the state. Morton helped the Honeybees finish third in District 8-4A, and they face Springtown or Kennedale in a Region I-4A bi-districdt playoff at Aledo Monday, beginning at 6 p.m.
